There is refreshment in the crypt of the Lutheran Cathedral (see above), built by Carl Ludwig Engel (1778-1840), a fellow student of Friedrich Schinkel. He was responsible for the lavish ensemble of Helsinki’s Senate Square (1822-45) with the Palace of the Council of State and the main buildings of the university (along with the Esplanadi, see below):
