Degerby (see below) provides us with a lot of rain, but the still strong winds do not make continuing to Sweden an attractive option either, so we choose the short leg to Rödhamn (see above) – favourite place of our last Åland trip. Rödhamn, a wonderfully sheltered harbour that has been in use since the Middle Ages, again does not disappoint. Even when high surf waves thunder against the south coast, it is peaceful in this natural harbour. We enjoy every minute here!
Radio amateur U. (this time without A.) makes another pilgrimage to the radio beacon preserved on Rödhamn, which until 1970 radioed a 17° sector to the ships on Rödhamn at 30-minute intervals as well as the distance by Morse code. The diesel generators for the strong radio signals have also been preserved here.
