What had we wished for again? Not only does the strong southerly wind die down in the evening, but the next morning it turns to the west as hoped, then even to the north-west! We cast off in the drizzle and motor for a while before a gentle wind picks up a little south of Sæby and then the sun comes out. Gennacker up and enjoy the sailing life...
...although, as we know, we are not travelling alone in the Kattegat: The MV Buvik, which is obliged to take evasive action, sails right in front of our bow, while we cannot go any further to windward under Gennacker in order to avoid them. U. radios the captain shortly beforehand, so at least we know that he has seen us and our colourful sail. Hopefully none of our friends are watching our position on Marinetraffic, because it clearly looks like a collision (see above right).
The north-westerly eventually becomes an easterly, then south-easterly, with calm in between... At some point, the north coast of Djursland comes into view and we can head for the harbour of Bønnerup, which is flanked by seven large wind turbines. 53 nautical miles are finally on the log for the sailing day, 340nm in total.
