In Bønnerup we set up the “Kuchenbude” (our ingenious cockpit cover, see below) under which we snuggle up for a night and a morning of heavy rain. Then the sky turns blue again (see above) and we sail to the island of Sejerø after a stopover in Grenaa. In Grenaa we meet up again with our jetty neighbours from Bønnerup, who had cast off in the rain, got completely soaked at sea, and are now drying their oilskins:
The opening picture and these photos show the SV Preussen VII, a ketch named after the largest German tall ship ever built, which overtook us motoring close to Grenaa lighthouse.
Grenaa is once again firmly in German hands and we are glad to be able to set sail again early in the morning. A whole pack of German yachts set off with us just in time for sunrise. “Pack of yachts” signifies... regatta! All of this in moderate but ideal conditions for SY Blue Layla. We reach a speed of seven knots quickly reached and can easily maintain it. Later, the Code Zero has to take over, so the others can be kept at a distance...
After a marvellous day of sailing, the island of Sejerø appears over the horizon.
