The wind forecasts are causing discussion among the Blue Layla crew: our weather models are predicting first southerly and then very (too) strong westerly winds for the coming days – unfavourable if you want to sail south first and then home reasonably comfortably. Thus, we complete the remaining 142.5 nautical miles through the Great Belt (see above) and the Bay of Mecklenburg faster than originally planned in order to get ahead of both. We are rewarded for our exertions: first with fantastic Gennacker sailing and then an enjoyable stopover and swim in the “Kaiserhafen” harbour in Orth/Fehmarn, which presents itself from its best summery side.
